Leyla Abbas gizi Safarova (Alakbarova) was born on July 25, 1981 in Nakhchivan city, Nakhchivan AR. From 1987-1997, she studied at secondary school № 5 named after H.Javid in Nakhchivan, and in the academic year of 1997-1998 at secondary school № 14 named after M.J.Jafarov. She graduated from this school with a Certificate of Distinction in 1998.
In the same year, she entered the “Philology of English and Roman-German languages” faculty of the Azerbaijan State University of Languages, and in 2002 graduated from the “Philology” faculty of the Azerbaijan University of Languages with an honors diploma. In 2002, she started working as an English teacher in Nakhchivan secondary school № 14. In parallel, she worked as an English teacher at the Heydar Aliyev Military Lyceum in Nakhchivan during the 2003 – 2004 academic year.
In 2004 – 2006, she studied at Nakhchivan State University in the academic discipline of Linguistics, majoring in “Foreign Languages – English language” at Master's level. She carried out the position of chief specialist (for foreign relations) in the Central Office Support Staff of the Nakhchivan Department of ANAS, from 2006–2020 in the “Education and personnel” department of the same institution (previous name “Personnel and post-graduate studies”/“Personnel and doctoral studies”), from 2020 – 2021 in the Department of Science and Education. From 2021–2022, she worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of Art, Language and Literature, Nakhchivan Department of ANAS.
In 2008–2012, she studied doctoral studies at the Nakhchivan Department of ANAS, in 2015 she defended her thesis entitled “History of English grammar research in Azerbaijan” in the specialty “Germanic languages” and in 2016 she received the degree of Doctor of philosophy on philology. Since 2008 she worked as a per hours teacher at the “English language and translation” department of Nakhchivan State University, and since 2020 at the “Foreign languages” department of Nakhchivan University, full-time stuff teacher at the “English language and methodology” department of Nakhchivan State University during the academic year of 2022– 2023.
In 2018-2022, she was appointed the chairman of the Defense Council at the bachelor's level of Nakhchivan State University, and in 2023, the chairman of the Final Attestation Commission at Nakhchivan State University and Nakhchivan Teachers Institute. She has been a member of the New Azerbaijan Party since 2004, on the editorial board of the literary magazine “Azad Galam” (“Independent Pen”) since 2021, and the Azerbaijan Journalists Union since 2022. She is the author of two scientific monographs, one literary/fiction book, one book layout, 52 national and international, including domestically and abroad scientific articles, conference proceedings and theses, 18 newspaper articles, 11 website articles, 4 literary publications. She has a number of international and local certificates, diplomas and a medal. She is married and has two children.
